33GEMMAHRAHeld up rounding the home turn and then when entering the straight was obliged to alter course to the inside of rnr.
114MERCURIAL LADBegan awkwardly, shifted out and made contact.
106CHAMPAGNE VEGABegan awkwardly and then shortly afterwards was bumped and carried wider. Rdr reported that in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate today’s heavy racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
127EXPRESS COURIERFrom its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. A post-race vet exam revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Tnr was advised that a vet clearance, including the results of an ECG, will be required before having to barrier trial. Vet clearance since received and passed trial at Canberra 21/5/21.
58SIR AGLOVALEBegan awkwardly. Qst re his riding rounding the h/turn & as to whether there was an opportunity to shift to the outside of rnr to improve, rdr std that approaching the h/turn he opted to trail rnr, which he considered to be the horse to follow. He added that when rounding the h/turn mnt did not quicken & commenced to lay out, he anticipated a run developing between that rnr & rnr, which was weakening. When he was disappointed for a run between those rnr’s he was obliged to alter course then remained held up until near the 200m. Stwds noted riders’ comments not unreasonable.
19AZARMINStewards permitted rdr to ride the mare 1kg over its allotted weight of 54.5kgs.
411ROSEIRROFrom a wide barrier was shifted behind runners. Qst re his riding in the early stgs of the straight and as to his vigour, rdr std that he had placed his mnt under pressure approaching the h/turn & then rounding the h/turn he was weighing up either to shift to the outside of rnr or improve to the inside of rnr. He added that on entering the straight he elected to shift to the outside and given the circumstances felt he had applied sufficient vigour whereby mnt finished off strongly. Stwds, whilst noting riders’ comment, advised him in similar circumstances to ride with sufficient vigour.
812TENORINOSlow to begin. Near the 600m blundered.
913EDEN VALERdr reported that after travelling a short distance he was unable to obtain a position with cover, therefore, he allowed mnt to improve. He added that the gelding commenced to race keenly, and when he was unable to restrain his mount, the gelding was left racing in a threewide position without cover outside the leaders, which was further forward than anticipated.
