Rider was questioned in relation to his tactics from passing the 600m and he explained he was instructed to attempt to settle in a forward position with cover, however, his mount lacked early pace despite his efforts and he therefore elected to ease his mount to avoid being wide and attempt to gain cover which resulted in him settling further back in the field.
